Mr Richard Miles Founded Miles Martial Arts in 2021 after having previously taught Taekwon-do full time for over a decade. Mr Miles has taught thousands of students in this time, many of whom have enjoyed much success at competition, and many have continued on to achieve their black belts and beyond.
As well as enjoying teaching the students themselves, Mr Miles takes great pride and pleasure in working with up and coming future instructors and helping them develop their teaching skills. Mr Miles runs the majority of the classes at our full-time centre in Hildenborough, Tonbridge, as well as grading all students at Miles Martial Arts.
Outside of Taekwon-do, Mr Miles is usually found behind a camera, filming events and producing MMA videos. His favourite film is Interstellar and he is rather partial to a curry.
After having previously contributed heavily to the growth and success of the club alongside Mr Miles, Mrs Miles now owns and manages a preschool where she focuses much of her time. There she teaches Taekwon-do Tots, giving the very youngest of students a great introduction to martial arts. Mrs Miles has a particular passion for Taekwon-do patterns and board breaking, gaining many medals at competitions in the past.
Having spent many years as a school teacher before starting Taekwon-do, Mrs Miles brings a wealth of experience and expertise. Still playing a pivotal role in Miles Martial Arts, Mrs Miles is a senior member on the grading panel.
As one of Mr Miles’ longest-standing students, Mr Fillingham has been training for over a decade, and has previously spent many years assisting Mr Miles before taking on his own club. Having enjoyed much success at competition, as well as having a natural flare for teaching, Mr Fillingham has been passing on his considerable experience to the Hildenborough and Sevenoaks Taekwon-do and Kickboxing students as well as to his own students at Crockham Hill.
Mr Fillingham has represented Great Britain in two European Kickboxing Championships, Turkey 2022 and Athens 2024, as well as in the World Kickboxing Championships in Portugal November 2023. We look forward to cheering him on again in the World Kickboxing Championships later this year.
Outside of the dojang Benn is usually in the gym preparing for his next competition. He apparently doesn’t have the time to watch movies but doesn’t say no to fajitas or a steak!
As part of the Senior Instructor Team at Miles Martial Arts, Mrs Edginton has been teaching and training at our full time centre in Hildenborough, Tonbridge for the last decade. As well as running her own adult classes in Hildenborough and teaching the girls at Walthamstow Hall School for Girls in Sevenoaks, Mrs Edginton has the hugely important role of managing our office, without which we would not be able to provide the high standard of customer service that we strive for.
When away from the dojang and unplugged from the office, Lisa is usually off skiing or planning her next ski trip. Addicted to bacon sarnies and scones (clotted cream on before the jam), her favourite movies include The Bourne Ultimatum, Ocean’s 11, The Usual Suspects, James Bond, The Dark Knight…. the list goes on.
As well as being a dedicated Taekwon-do instructor, and a 2nd degree black belt with 16 years of training, Mr Mason’s qualifications include a BSc in Sport Conditioning, Rehabilitation & Massage, Level 4 Sport Massage, Level 3 Personal Training and Level 2 Kettlebell. After several years at university in Cardiff, we managed to entice him back to Kent to teach classes at the Hildenborough and Sevenoaks dojangs, and this April, he will be opening his own club in Chaldon, Caterham.
Outside of Taekwon-do, you’ll likely find Tejin in the gym or on the golf course. A foodie at heart, his favourite movie is Ratatouille and his current favourite dish is Paella Valenciana.
